When should I choose MMS4X00-NM instead of MMA4Z00-NS?

Choose MMS4X00-NM for single-mode switch links up to 500 m. MMA4Z00-NS uses 850 nm multimode fiber with reach of 30 m on OM3 or 50 m on OM4. Both provide two 400G optical links; the fiber type and distance determine which fits the installation.

Which fiber connections does MMS4X00-NM need?

Use two single-mode MPO-12/APC fiber paths with crossover polarity for the two 400G ports. A switch-to-switch pair can reach 500 m; a connection to a shorter-reach single-port optic is limited by that peer optic. The two paths must use the same straight or splitter arrangement.
