Nexus 5600 modules and Fabric Extender selection

Check connector, platform and module support before substituting legacy data-center parts.

Information to collect

Check connector, platform and module support before substituting legacy data-center parts.

Provide the current host PID, software version, required interfaces and installation constraints before choosing replacements.

Selection checks

  • N5696-M4C uses CXP; it is not a QSFP28 port module. Equal aggregate rates do not establish a compatible plug or electrical interface.
  • N5696-M12Q support depends on the intended Nexus host. Check the installation guide and software for the exact combination.
  • N2K-C2232TM-E is a Fabric Extender, not an independent stand-alone switch. Maximum chassis port counts may depend on optional modules.

Before deployment

  • Compare port and connector types physically and in the support documentation.
  • Verify module and FEX recognition by the parent switch.
  • Test the replacement under the required traffic and failure conditions.

Preparing a quotation request

Include the exact part numbers, quantities, required condition, included accessories and software entitlements. Identify the target equipment and any unresolved interface or configuration item. A product association is not a validated combination.
