Description
NVIDIA MQM9700-NS2F is a managed Quantum-2 NDR InfiniBand switch in a 1U chassis. Its 32 OSFP cages provide 64 logical 400G ports, with port splitting for up to 128 NDR200 connections. This variant uses power-to-connector airflow and includes MLNX-OS with an embedded subnet manager.

How can QM9700 connect 400G and NDR200 hosts?

For a multimode optical deployment, a switch-side MMA4Z00-NS module connects to two 400G hosts using two straight crossover fiber cables. Two 1:2 splitter fibers instead connect four NDR200 hosts. NVIDIA documents MMA4Z00-NS400 for OSFP hosts and MMA1Z00-NS400 for QSFP112 hosts. On the splitter path, only two lanes of each 400G endpoint optic are active, giving 200G. Both switch-side fiber paths use the same straight or splitter arrangement. Reach is up to 50 m on OM4.

Is UFM required to bring up a QM9700 fabric?

QM9700 includes MLNX-OS and an embedded subnet manager, so UFM is not required for basic fabric bring-up. The subnet manager discovers ports and establishes routing; it can run on the switch or a connected host. UFM provides a broader management option for larger fabrics.
