Choose the network role before comparing these five switch configurations

These five ordering configurations serve different network roles. The two QM9790 entries provide NDR InfiniBand with external fabric management; their immediate selection difference is airflow. Q3400-RA provides managed XDR InfiniBand and appears by exact order code in NVIDIA’s DGX B300 compute-fabric reference design. The two Ethernet configurations belong to different Spectrum generations and offer different port mixes.

A practical comparison starts with protocol and endpoint rate. RoCE traffic runs over an Ethernet fabric; an InfiniBand switch is not an interchangeable substitute merely because the optical cage looks similar. Count logical data links separately from physical cages on QM9790 and Q3400. For SN2410, separate the 25GbE server-facing port budget from the 100GbE uplink budget. For SN4600C, allocate its 64 100GbE ports to the planned topology.

Then review the rack. NS2F is power-to-connector; NS2R is connector-to-power. The published QM9790 operating temperature limits also differ between those airflow variants. The Q3400-RA AC configuration requires its own power and rack review; its ordering row excludes power cords.

Finally, keep lifecycle and supply facts separate. NVIDIA’s tables list SN2410-CB2RC as EOL, SN4600-CS2RC and both QM9790 variants as mass production, and Q3400-RA as P-Rel. These dated labels help frame a sourcing discussion but do not establish stock, installed software, warranty or delivery commitments.
