Selecting FRUs and Accessories Without Mixing Variants: material selection diagram

Start with the parent system

Obtain the full system part number and a label photograph before consulting the FRU table. Record the accessory code, replacement relationship, and applicable revision. A shared catalog family is not sufficient proof of fit.

Fans and power supplies

Match fan direction to the chassis airflow design. For a PSU, check AC/DC input, voltage, connectors, capacity, and replacement procedure. Do not translate a US/EU shorthand into a wall-plug shape without checking the connector specification.

Rails, brackets, and harnesses

Match rails to chassis depth and mounting geometry, brackets to the board and port positions, and power harnesses to the specified pinout. Distinguish a kit from a single item so quantity calculations do not omit or duplicate parts.

Quotation and receiving checks

Provide full system and accessory part numbers, label photographs, and quantities, then confirm kit contents. At receiving, compare labels, connectors, and mounting geometry. If only a family image is available, obtain exact-part photographs or dimensions before installation; visual resemblance does not establish interchangeability.
