Description
The BlueField-3 B3240 is a dual-slot FHHL DPU with two QSFP112 network ports, 16 Arm cores and 32 GB of on-board DDR5. This exact configuration supports 400GbE and NDR InfiniBand over a PCIe 5.0 x16 host connection. Hardware crypto is disabled; an integrated BMC supports platform management. What power and cooling checks are needed before installation?

Supplementary 8-pin PCIe ATX power cable is required and is not included. Verify the server-specific airflow and power specifications before installation.

Can an auxiliary kit automatically enable Socket Direct?

This model has an x16 PCIe extension hardware option. However, the current BlueField-3 introduction explicitly says Socket-Direct is not supported by firmware. Confirm firmware and deployment-mode support before ordering; a kit alone is not proof of working Socket Direct.

Is B3240 a DPU or a SuperNIC, and why does the suffix matter?
