A replacement-part checklist that starts with the chassis
A spare part is useful only when it fits the installed system. NVIDIA’s replacement tables give a practical starting point: find the complete chassis model, then use the part-number row and its supported-systems column. Preserve airflow suffixes and rack variants through the quotation and receiving process.
For fans and power supplies, record the required direction as power-to-connector or connector-to-power. Do not replace that with an ambiguous “front-to-back” label unless the front of the particular chassis is clearly defined. A fan’s size or a PSU’s wattage is insufficient evidence of fit. The SN4000 manual, for example, lists FANF/R-M modules for SN4700 and different fan entries for SN4600 and SN4600C.
For rails, check rack post spacing, fixed versus tool-less mounting, and the exact chassis. The SN2201 manual lists distinct kits for the standard SN2201 and SN2201_M in MGX racks. A similar-looking kit or a shared 19-inch rack designation does not establish interchangeability.
For adapter brackets, keep card form factor and retention method separate from network speed. NVIDIA’s OCP documentation distinguishes internal-lock from thumbscrew/pull-tab retention, while stand-up cards have their own mechanical drawings. Use the owner-confirmed manufacturer-sourced part mapping, and add public mechanical or partner-catalog corroboration where available. A missing public search result does not make the mapping invalid.
Finish by checking the service procedure and the parts actually included in the quote. Keep manufacturer reference compatibility separate from stock availability, support entitlement and the condition of the shipped item.
